Milly Alcock: 'My tattoos ground me'

Supergirl star Milly Alcock says her tattoos help "ground" her.

The 26-year-old Australian actress has a whopping 20 inkings, despite her young age, and explained during an interview on YouTube show Last Meals that there's a reason she has so many.

As host Josh Scherer remarked that she has a "fair amount of tattoos", Milly revealed she actually has 20.

Josh replied: "You have 20 tattoos? Hell yeah!"

Despite the fact that many screen stars avoid having etchings because of how they age, or how difficult it is to cover them up for movies or TV shows, Milly has a reason she has so many.

She explained: "Being an actor, my body is my tool. But also my body's in service of other people and a character and whoever I need to be.

"There's something very grounding about at the end of the day, taking it all off, and it's my skin, you know? It's personalised to me."

Milly also admitted tattoos are "also just really addictive".

She giggled: "I want to get another one!"

Josh then asked "what are you doing after this?" to which Milly joked: "Getting another tattoo!"

Milly has made a name for herself in TV shows House of Dragon and Sirens, but Supergirl is the first movie in which she's landed the lead role.

While it was daunting to take on the part, Milly gave herself a strict talking to when she considered passing on it.

She told Variety recently: "I looked at myself in the mirror, and I was like, 'Who am I to turn down this opportunity?'.

"I knew that it was what I needed to do, because it scared me. And I thought, 'Well, I get one big, bad, beautiful life. Why not f****** go for it?'

"Just f****** go for it! What are you, scared? Get over yourself."

Milly has also had to deal with some unpleasant criticism from trolls, many of them male, since taking on the Supergirl role.

However, she's learned to ignore the comments as best she can.

She told Vanity Fair: "I guess women know that this is just how it's always been, unfortunately.

"And it's from a lot of people whose profiles have no photo, who are burner accounts. Or someone's name and then 'Dad of four, Christian,' which is hilarious to me. But I mean, whose opinion do you really care about? If you're p****** the right kind of people off, you're doing OK."
