Timothy Olyphant 'doesn't own a computer'

Timothy Olyphant is so technologically challenged that he had to borrow an office computer to record a podcast interview.

The 58-year-old actor was a guest on Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett's SmartLess podcast, but told the hosts that he had struggled to find a way that he could actually get online for the chat to be recorded in the first place.

Timothy began: "I needed a computer… I guess you can't do your show if you don't own a computer."

His reveal left the podcast hosts baffled, with Arnett labelling it "f****** rad" that he doesn't actually have a computer at home.

Timothy added: "I got like a, you know, I got a phone and I got a thing. That's all you gotta do."

However, Bateman insisted he didn't "buy it", as he asked: "You don't have, and you being an artist, you don't have an iPad with one of those little, one of those little stylist pen thingies?"

Justified star Timothy then explained that he and wife Alexis Knief had done their best to dig up an "old desktop computer" to record the podcast interview, but quickly discovered it was too old to be suitable for the occasion.

He said: "[We] plugged it in and started it up, and they were all USB things and I was like, 'I don't think I can -- it won't work."

Adding that he'd eventually borrowed an office computer, Timothy laughed: "There's a lot of sacrifices that went into this, guys.

"And don't get me wrong, I'm super honoured, and it is a pleasure to be here."

The hosting trio also questioned how Timothy managed to listen to the podcasts without technology, to which the screen star joked that he reads the transcripts of the episodes rather than tuning in online.

He said: "I read the transcripts. And the show's very good. The chemistry comes across in written print."

Continuing his scepticism, Bateman asked if Timothy had ever "been tempted" to update his technological footprint to "see the landscape out there, like all the different sites you can go visit to expose yourself to", questioning: "All this talk about AI and stuff. Not curious to see what the fuss is about?"

To which Timothy insisted: "You can do all that on the little phones!"
