You have questions. I have some answers.

Q: My family and I just finished watching “Elle” and really enjoyed it. Has Amazon Prime released any info on a possible second season?

A: For those of you tuning in late, “Elle” is the prequel to Reese Witherspoon’s two “Legally Blonde” movies, with her character Elle Woods now a high-school student played by Lexi Minetree. (Witherspoon has said the idea for the series came to her after watching “Wednesday,” the show with Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams in her high school years.) Prime Video was so high on the “Elle” idea that it announced a second season before the first season had even aired.

Q: When I was a child growing up in the '60s I remember a movie called “The Story of Marcelino” about an orphan boy being raised by monks somewhere in Mexico or Spain. The boy happens to go into a storage area of the monastery and finds a large crucifix of Jesus whom he starts visiting and bringing him bread and water. No one else I know remembers this movie. Can you tell me if this movie is still shown on TV?

A: The movie you remember is better known as “Miracle of Marcelino” in English and “Marcelino Pan Y Vino” in Spanish and is from 1955. Based on a book by José María Sánchez-Silva, it has been adapted several times and won international awards. You can find it streaming on Tubi and YouTube; it is also on DVD and Blu-ray, with both formats available on Amazon.

Q: Will there be more of “True Detective”?

A: The crime drama created by Nic Pizzolatto has kept viewers guessing with four seasons in 2014, 2015, 2019 and 2024, and the ever-changing story, locations and casts which have included, among others, Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell, Mahershala Ali and Jodie Foster. But there will be a fifth season, set in New York and due to air in 2027. As for casting, the big buzz has been about Nic Cage, although the official word so far is only that he is in talks about the show. For now, at least you can see him as a private eye in the recent “Spider-Noir” series on Prime Video.

Q: We are wondering if “The Rainmaker” is coming back on USA Network or not.

A: USA has indeed ordered a second season of the drama for telecast later this year. The series is based on John Grisham’s novel of the same name, previously adapted into a 1997 movie starring Matt Damon. The TV series features Milo Callaghan as young lawyer Rudy Baylor (Damon’s character in the movie).

Q: I have heard that the movie “Three Tough Guys” from the “blaxploitation” era is out of print. To your knowledge, is there a DVD available?

A: The “Three Tough Guys” in the title of the 1974 film were Isaac Hayes, Lino Ventura and Fred Williamson. (The film is sometimes called “Tough Guys,” which is the title of the soundtrack by Hayes.) I have seen a DVD for sale on Amazon, but the customer comments are critical of its video and sound quality. There are also some copies for sale on eBay, but I can’t vouch for their quality or whether they were authorized releases.
